Powerlifter, bodybuilder and strongman, 2001 World's Strongest Man winner Svend Karlsen is one of the most recognizable figures on the professional strongman circuit and this film captures the highlights of his "Life in Power."
He's the guy who started singing an Elvis Presley song after a big strongman victory in Finland ("never give me a microphone"), and who hopped on plane in September 2001 to compete in Saint Louis and denounced the 9-11 terrorist attack on the USA. The strongman known as Viking Power was Norway's Strongest Man, Scandinavia's Strongest Man, Europe's Strongest Man, and of course, World's Strongest Man. "I really like the final cut: It makes me proud, but it makes me feel old because I have been through so much . . . powerlifting, bodybuilding, pro bodybuilding, strongman. After I watched the film, I truly believed it myself that I am a legend," Svend said with a laugh. Quoted from the IronMind News (www.ironmind.com).
With clips from his teenage years up through the 2004 Arnold and 2004 World's Strongest Man contest, this 75-minute DVD, narrated by Colin Bryce, is packed with unique footage of Svend training and competing and big doses of Svend's personality, showmanship, and inspiration. 75 min., NTSC.
